Learning Network

Under the umbrella of a transdisciplinary approach – the combination of interdisciplinary, international and intersectoral collaboration – the integration of different types of knowledge is enabled. Through joint activities inspired by co-production and individual secondments, the DASH project establishes a strong learning network. Meeting, workshops and training, secondments, conferences, summer schools and exhibitions are the DASH tools of learning network.

Affordable housing: the approach by Évora municipality (plus an interesting interview with Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza)

On April 10th, DASH members assembled at the Palácio D. Manuel for an exciting day in Évora. The day’s programme was organised by the Municipality of Évora, partner of the DASH project. It included a discussion with the President of Évora City Council; information about Évora's successful bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2027, as well as its activities related to the "1st Right" national housing programme; and was topped off with a visit to the Malagueira neighbourhood designed by Álvaro Siza.

Programme in Montemor

As part of the programme of DASH project activities that preceded the mid-term meeting and the thematic workshop, the hosts organised a working visit to Montemor on April 5. The goal was to get acquainted with the functioning of the Minga Cooperative, to discuss the project’s current obligations, to hear presentations about individual components of the cooperative, and to exchange knowledge about mechanisms for affordable housing.

DASH at the Planning, Law, and Property Conference in Munich

On 21 March 2024, Sónia Alves, on behalf of Julia Hartman and Filipa Cabrita, presented the preliminary results of the paper “Why the municipal matters: lessons from Germany and Portugal for addressing Europe’s housing crisis” at the 18th Annual International Conference of the Planning, Law, and Property Rights Association.

Meetings at the Geographical Institute “Jovan Cvijić” SASA, Serbia

From October to December 2023, Sonia Alves and Pedro Moura Ferreira conducted secondments in Serbia as part of the DASH project. This provided opportunities for joint discussions among Portuguese and Serbian researchers and practitioners about the provision of social housing within the two countries’ different social environments and historical contexts.

Joint meeting in Aalborg

The joint meeting at Aalborg was organized from the 21st to 23rd of August. The focus of the meeting revolved around Denmark's social housing system, specifically examining Alborg's experience with it.
